SONG OF THE GOAT THEATER, Refectory
The building which now houses the Song of the Goat Theater was erected in 1294 as a Dominican convent. Ever since, it has been repeatedly rebuilt and renovated. By 1525, it had been extended to include five stories and an adjoining tower. After secularization (19th century), the lower part of the building was turned into a wine tavern, and the gothic room was converted into an Old Lutheran church. During the Second World War it suffered 80 percent damage. In the 1970s, reconstruction started. The building, mainly its outside parts, is being reconstructed in a postmodernist vein.
