St. Katherina Church - Gothic room
The gothic room located in the building of the Song of the Goat Theater dates back to the end of the 13th century. In 1294, a Dominican convent was founded there. Ever since, the building has been repeatedly rebuilt and renovated. By 1525, it had been extended to include five stories and an adjoining tower. After secularization (19th century), the lower part of the building was turned into a wine tavern, and the gothic room was converted into an Old Lutheran church. During the Second World War it suffered 80 percent damage. In the 1970s, reconstruction started. The building, mainly its outside parts, is being reconstructed in a postmodernist vein.
