This project of the Actores Alidos group is dedicated to the musical heritage of Sardinia. This heritage has been impressively preserved in Orgosolo. The eldest women perform these stunningly beautiful polyphonic songs in an old dialect by. These songs can last for hours, thus evoking the turbulent past of the aforementioned region.
Even as late as the XIX century, gang fights punctuated the rhythm of Orgosolo. Now, this picturesque town in the heart of Sardinia is renown for its extraordinarily rich musical tradition. Currently, this town is the only place, where the traditional form of singing the rosary prayers has remained undiluted. Moreover, in this project, the five singers, who perform traditional Sardinian songs, are accompanied by Orlando Mascia. Mr. Mascia is an expert in traditional Sardinian music. He is also a virtuoso of the traditional instruments from this region, which include: launeddas (traditional Sardinian instrument usually made from cane, it is made of three parts and resembles flute), sulitu (traditional flute), trunfa (Jew’s harp), and organetto (accordion). Mr. Mascia use of these specific instruments enters into a dialog with the voices of the singing women.
Canti delle Donne Sarde is a polyphonic concert inspired by the culture of that place. The eldest women perform stunningly beautiful polyphonic songs in an old dialect. They evoke the turbulent past of the region. Love songs interweave here with sacral songs, lullabies and popular tunes intertwine with songs of lament and serenades.

Workshops:
The workshop is based on the peculiarity of the sardinian singing and on the musical arrangement used for realize different songs showed in the concert with different counterpoints, besides the group will try to teach at the audience some passages of the concert.
