THE GLOBETROTTERS (Poland)

The Globetrotters play so-called world music, a genre mixing a variety of ethnic music styles. The band, formed in 1999, comprises vocalist Kuba Badach (who explores vocal techniques from around the world), saxophonist and flute player Jerzy Glowczewski and vibraphonist Bernard Maseli, the project’s originator.

The originality of the band stems from an unusual combination of three distinct musical personalities. Kuba Badach represents soul and funk, Jerzy Glowczewski – jazz, while Bernard Maseli adds in fusion. This mixture is enriched with a multitude of folk music elements (Latino rhythms, African and Indian scales, Scottish diddling, etc.) and surprising forays into old-school arrangements.

The Globetrotters combine artistic maturity and the sparkling joy of creating music which quickly spreads to the audience. There are few Polish bands so adept at conjuring up the atmosphere of a happy family meeting. The closing concert, held in the festival club, will show how much satisfaction can be found in the creative process of artists who draw inspiration from all over the world. No end of warmth and positive energy.
