It's time to get your festival tickets
The box office is now open. Get your admission tickets to an extraordinary festival in Wroclaw, that presents vanishing cultures and their unique creators. The Brave Festival show and concert passes will be distributed in over 140 spots throughout Poland – anywhere from Gdansk to Cieszyn and from Bialystok to Zielona Gora. The ticket sale has started on May 26, 2009!
The Brave Festival is a cultural event of great significance not only for Poland but for Europe as well. This is already its fifth edition. The creators of the festival in Wroclaw have prepared a rich presentation of spirituality and customs from a wide range of distant and exotic countries. They call it “All the World's Prayers.” Not only is its conception to present art itself, but also the cultural context in which rituals and custom have been cultivated. The creators of the event present forgotten cultures that bravely maintain their traditions in spite of pop culture, social changes and armed conflicts affecting them. The Brave is held under the patronage of Director General of UNESCO, the Minister of Culture and the National Heritage as well as the President of Wroclaw.
Single entry tickets will cost 20 PLN per show until the beginning of the festival (July 03). After that, the price will increase to 30 PLN. There are also passes available for 190 PLN that will give admission to almost all the shows. Why “almost?” Well, one of the shows, for religious and cultural reasons, is intended for women only. In particular, there will be a “Zikr” ceremony performed by Muslim women from Chechenia, and only women can take part in it. There will be other interesting shows to see, though; Among others: A ritual will be performed on water by a Korean shaman woman, Tuareg women will play a sacred instrument Imzad, a Corsican group “A Filetta” will sing their enchanting polyphonic songs about the passion of the Christ usually sung only on their home island. For the first time in the festival, we'll see children perform as well - there will be groups of children from Nepal and Africa. Moreover, just as in previous years, a series of films will enrich the festival. This year, the documentaries will be dedicated to various aspects of religion and its role in secular dimensions (such as sport, politics or art). A single pass to all the movies will cost 140 PLN. One day pass will be 30 PLN, and a single movie admission will be 7 PLN.
During the festival, there will be ongoing plenty of workshops (i.e. African dance), outdoor exhibitions and meetings with the artists – free of charge.
In addition to the regular points of sale, passes are available on-line at www.ticketpro.pl or at www.bravefestival.pl – the organiser's web page where the list of all points of sale in the country can also be found.
