The Brave Festival starts in just 3 days!

The big countdown has already been started. We're only 4 days from the festival in Wrocław that will host artists from Baikal region, Tanzania jungle, deserts of Algeria or an Indian temple.  Not only is The Brave Festival about multiculturalism, but also about discovery of unknown rituals, prayers and believes as well as emotional meetings with authentic  guardians of perishing cultures.

This year the creators of the festival, in accordance with their mission statement, take on a serious subject of world's prayers.  There will be more than a dozen cults, rituals and rites representing prayers from the globe's most distant places.  A ritual will be performed on Odra river by a Korean shaman woman, Tibet temple monks will create a sand mandala for peace, Tuareg women will play a sacred instrument “Imzad.”  We'll see possessed by an ancient deity dancers from India, rainmakers from Tanzania and several other fascinating yet forgotten rituals.  This is only a fraction of the wealth of the world's spirituality we will have a privilege of experiencing during the fifth edition of the Brave Festival. The programme includes such events as “Zikr” – a prayer from mountains Caucasus in Chechenia that can only be performed by, and only in presence of, women.
This year's edition will also be enriched by Polish features represented by “Zar” theatre and “Goat Chant Theatre,” an exhibition prepared by the Ossolineum as well as an unusual production of Macbeth performed by prisoners from Kłodzko.  For the first time in five years, the festival framework will include a Brave Kids project that will allot time on the stage for groups of children from regions especially affected by armed conflicts and serious social issues – Uganda, Rwanda and Nepal.
A separate event that will run as a part of the festival will be a 5-day-long documentary series of 30 films from all over the world.  There will also be offered exhibitions, workshops and meetings with the artists within the festival.
As in previous years, during the festival we'll have a chance to meet with authentic, true followers of their cultus, who are not afraid to celebrate their believes even in unfavourable social conditions, rather than to just watch professional artists act.  The Brave is a project that has an impact on the future of all of us.  Having seen its previous editions we can see it's not limited to just follow a cultural event formula.  Instead it streaches our imagination and helps us realise what we have to lose.
