The main character of Chico Dall’Inha’s documentary, after his dramatic escape from Tibet, became the popularizer of Buddhism in Western Europe. He went to Oxford in 1963 and only four years later in Scotland he opened the first Tibetan Buddhist monastery on the Old Continent. The documentary presents this meritorious spiritual leader, mainly through conversations with his friends and co-workers as well as through archival footage. From the film emerges a portrait of an outstanding person, open to other people, who devoted his life to helping others. Akong is one of the founders of the charity ROKPA, which helps poor orphans in Tibet, whose activities are supported by the sale of our festival tickets.
